Obituary

James R. Jackman, 75, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Saturday, November 29, at Hearthstone at Heights Crossing in Brockton under the care of Old Colony Hospice, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 50 years of the late Claire F. (O’Rourke) Jackman. Born in Boston, he was raised in the West End and a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. He also attended Suffolk University. Mr. Jackman was a resident of Stoughton for over 46 years. He was a sales engineer for Colmar Belting in South Boston for 41 years before retiring in 2004. Mr. Jackman was active at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. He was a past President and coach of Stoughton Little League and was involved in the building of the Elm Street complex. He was also past President of STOYAC and coached STOYAC basketball. He was a member and Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus in the West End and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 in Stoughton. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, trips to Foxwoods and watching the Red Sox and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Jackman is survived by his children, Gregg B. Jackman, Michael P. Jackman and Sheila A. Campbell all of Stoughton, James G. Jackman of Brockton, Gary M. Jackman of Newtown, CT, Sean R. Jackman of England and Erin C. D’Amadio of Bridgewater. He was the brother of Joseph Jackman of Abington, Francis Jackman and Marie Walsh both of S. Boston and the late Thomas and Roger Jackman. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, December 5 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
