William J. “Bill” McCormick, 63, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on November 27th, 2008. He was born in Haverhill on August 4th, 1945 to his parents John and Elizabeth (Dinan) McCormick. Bill was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School in 1963. He continued his education earning a degree from the Andover Institute of Business. For over 35 years, Bill worked as a Systems Analyst for the State of Massachusetts Department of Employment and Training. He retired this past August. Bill was an avid Bowler. He was a faithful New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox Fan. When his children were young, Bill volunteered as a soccer coach for the Medford Recreation Department. He served as a coach and mentor for several years, developing life long friendships with players and parents alike. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Sullivan) McCormick; and by his children, Kevin M. McCormick of Reading and Kristen M. Marchese and her husband John of Melrose. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday December 2nd at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday December 1st from 4-8 PM.
