Obituary

WEBSTER – Donald P. “Don” Quigley, 73, of 11 Upper Gore Road, died Thursday, November 27, at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Gail A. (Clark) Quigley; 4 children, Paul S. Quigley and his wife Susan M. of Hopkinton, Timothy J. Quigley and his wife Sandy of Natick, JoEllen L. Quigley and her husband Tom Hultzman of Princeton, and Sheila M. Magyar and her husband John of Colchester, CT; 10 cherished grandchildren, Brianna, Katie and Daniel, Abby and Bobby, Jared, Zachary and Mikayla, Luke and Juliana; a brother, Harold Quigley of Enfield, CT; 2 sisters, Thelma Shell and Arlene Ciesluk, both of Webster; a special friend, Allan Young, whom he considered another son; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Quigley.

He was born and raised in Webster, the son of Robert A. and Elsie F. (Westphal) Quigley, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1954; he played on the varsity basketball team. He later earned an Associates Degree in Business from Worcester Junior College.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Quigley was first a salesman for New England Provisions in Boston and then for Deary Brothers in Dudley. He then worked for Gibson Dairy in Worcester, retiring as a sales manager in 1997. In his retirement, he worked as a janitor and grounds keeper at Saint Louis Church.

He was a communicant and active member of Saint Louis Parish. He enjoyed basketball, gardening and amateur painting. He was a family man; he was proud of his four children, and had a special love for his ten grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Monday, December 1, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, November 30, in the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to either Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570, or to VNACare Network & Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
