Irene Nalbandian, 99, of Worcester passed away Thurs., Nov.27 at Holy Trinity Nursing Center.
She leaves a sister, Violet Nalbandian of Worcester; a nephew, Peter Wayne Nalbandian and his wife Mary Ann of Worcester; a grand nephew James Nalbandian of Fort Collins, CO ; two grand-nieces Carolyn and Jessica Nalbandian. She also leaves many loving cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Peter Nalbandian ; a sister-in-law Marion Nalbandian , an infant brother Karnig Nalbandian and a niece, Carolyn Nalbandin Dinsmore.
Irene was born in Worcester, daughter of Jacob and Mary (Berberian) Nalbandain and has lived in Worcester all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School, Fairchild Business School and Wards Business School.
Irene was a life writer and clerk for the Paul Revere Insurance Company for many years. She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour and the Daughters of Vartan. She was an avid cook, baker and traveler and in her younger days was a tournament bowler. Irene’s wealth was her family and friends to the very end and she maintained her sharp mind, sense of humor and spirit of independence until the end. She will be missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the entire staff, the regular and hospice departments of Holy Trinity Nursing Center for their excellent and companionate care during her stay there.
Funeral Services will be held Mon., Dec. 1, at 11 AM in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Sun., Nov. 30, from 4 to 7 PM at the Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. A Dahngark Service will be held at 5:30 PM and a Service by the Daughters of Vartan will be held at 4:30 PM during the visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Armenian Church of Our Savior.
