Obituary

Mrs. Irene A. (Roy) Tessier, age 95, formerly of Chateau Clare, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, went to be with God on November 24th, 2008. She was a resident at the Ballou Home for the Aged.
She was the widow of Ovilla Chabot and Jules G. Tessier.
Born on Ocotber 26th, 1913, in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Dolor and Demerise (Denault) Roy.
Mrs. Tessier worked at the Glenark Mill in Woonsocket where she earned a Certificate of Award for her part in winning the renewal of the Army-Navy Award during World War II. She also worked at the Polytop Corporation in Slatersville before retiring in 1979.
The RSVP of Greater Woonsocket honored her as Senior of the Month in July 2000 and Mayor Susan D. Menard awarded her with a proclamation naming July 2000 as "Irene Tessier Month".
On May 31st, 2000 the Woonsocket School Committee presented her with an "Exemplary Contribution Award"
in recognitinon of her many hours of volunteer service at the WHS McFee Memorial Library. Mrs. Tessier also received special recognition as Senior Volunteer amongst a group of women 50 and over featrued in the June/July 2003 Repondez newsletter.
She was a communicant of Preicous Blood Church for many years and a member of the Sacred Heart Spiritual Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lorraine R. O'Coin of Murfreesboro, TN, and Mrs. Gloira A. Parenteau of Woonsocket, a sister Mrs. Yvonne Stone, of Woonsocket, two granddaughters, two great-grandsons, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Veronica Gagnon, Alice King, Doris Blais, Elise Roy, and a brother who died in infancy.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, Novmeber 28th, in the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, 7 East St., Whitinsville, MA.
