Mr. Richard “Dick” L. Ober, a lifelong resident of Medford, died at his home on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. He was 84 years old.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on September 14, 1924, he was the beloved son of the late William E. and Bertha L. (Hinckley) Ober. Mr. Ober was employed by Gamewell as a Fire Prevention Systems installer for many years. He was an avid and longtime member of the Chevalier Theater in Medford. He was also a lifelong member of the West Medford Baptist Church in Medford and a member of the Mystic Players of Medford.
Dick will be fondly remembered because of his willingness to donate his time and efforts to the Medford community.
He will be missed by his twin sister and brother-in-law; Ellen and her husband Rev. Robert M. Smith of Ocean Park, Maine, nephew; Robert and his wife Donna Smith of Port Lucy, Florida, niece; Deborah E. and her husband, Omer E. Bernard of Richmond, Maine and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Road, Medford, on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. A memorial service will be held in the West Medford Baptis Church, 59 Boston Avenue, Medford, Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
