Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Venita J. “Nita” (Miller) Chapman, 76, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 23, 2008.
Born in Chelsea on February 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George “Harry” and Loretta (Leary) Miller. She had resided in Gloucester most of her life and was proud to have graduated from high school in 1983.
Nita was employed at Rule Industries in Gloucester for ten years before retiring in 1993. She had also once worked as a fish packer at the former Fabet Fish Plant in Gloucester for many years.
She was an avid poker player and was a member of the American Legion Cribbage Club. She was a devoted, loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her family was her life.
She is survived by her beloved daughter and grandson, Marilyn J."Lynn" Blaisdell and Shaun H. Blaisdell, brother-in-law, William Strescino, two nieces, Linda Hill and her companion, Daniel Rowe, Sr. and Joanne Joseph and her husband, Philip, four great-nieces and nephews, Shannon Hill, Matthew Hill, Philip Joseph, Jr. and Bryan Joseph all of Gloucester, her mother-in-law, Kathleen Chapman and a cousin, Donald “Buzzy” Miller. She was also predeceased by her beloved sister, Marilyn Strescino and son-in-law, Scott Blaisdell.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
