Karen A. Vazquez, 49 years, of Brockton, died November 11, 2008 at St. Joseph Manor after a lengthy illness. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Rafferty) Burr. She graduated from Massasoit Community College in 1987 after earning her Bachelors of Nursing Degree. She had been employed by the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Goddard Memorial Hospital, had been a head charge nurse at Forge Pond Nursing Home in E. Bridgewater and a private duty nurse for patients with Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy. Karen loved being a grandmother, and enjoyed Bingo, music and shopping.
She is survived by a son Todd Guevara of Taunton, her grandchildren, Tamari, Tatiana, Demetrius, Alexavier and Elizabeth; brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday 12-3pm with a Prayer Service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Karen’s name may be made to the Patients Activity Fund at St. Joseph Manor, 215 Thatcher Street, Brockton, MA 02302.
