Obituary

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Clare Bracey Kirkpatrick, 87, loving wife of 63 years to the late Donald F. Kirkpatrick Jr., entered into rest on Monday November 17, 2008 at University Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday November 19, 2008 at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Leslie Holmes and Rev. Dr. Sidney Gates officiating.

A lifelong resident of Augusta, Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a graduate of Tubman High School for Girls. She also graduated from the Garrett Business School. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Matthews Covenant Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the Augusta Junior Women’s Club. She worked at the Augusta Arsenal during World War II and would later work as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a homemaker and always volunteered in many of her children’s activities including Bible School, Girl Scouts and PTA. She enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Sewing Club and keeping in touch with many of her classmates from elementary school.

Survivors include two daughters; Nancy C. Kirkpatrick of Augusta, Donna K. Woodward and husband Elliott of Augusta, two grandchildren; Elizabeth Woodward Finch and husband Douglas of Augusta, and Ashley Stallings Woodward of Augusta and her fiancé, Steven A. Moulds, one sister; Annie B. Holland and husband Wilbur of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was preceded in death by her infant son, Donald F. Kirkpatrick III, her twin brother; the late John V. Bracey Jr., and her sister; the late Dorothy B. Morgan.

The family would like to thank the Nephrology Centers of America-Telfair Augusta, Kentwood Nursing Home, and Capital City Ambulance Service for all of the love and care given to Mrs. Kirkpatrick and family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 18, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the home of Donna and Elliott Woodward.
