Obituary

SALEM: Arie L. Noorduin, 83, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 in the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Johanna (Kremer) Noorduin.
Born in the Netherlands on October 29, 1925, he served in The Dutch Army during a campaign in Indonesia, where he met his wife, Johanna. He immigrated to Danvers in 1960 with his family and later moved to Salem.
Arie worked for many contractors on the North Shore and was self employed for several years. He later worked for the Salem Carpenter Union and finished his career retiring as a Master Carpenter at Salem Hospital. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching soccer and boxing matches. He loved family gatherings and had a chance to hold his newborn great-grandson, “Spike.”
In addition to his wife of nearly sixty years, he is survived by a son, John and his wife, Valerie Noorduin of Salem, granddaughter, Katie, a daughter, Rita Noorduin and her husband, Ron Genest of Danvers, granddaughter, Serena Frasca and her husband, Peter and great-granddaughter and namesake, Ariel all of Barrington, NH, a son, Dutch Norden and his wife, Terri, grandchildren, Matthew and Jamie Norden, Tawny Norden and her companion, Seth Roberts and great-grandson, Dodge “Spike” Roberts all of Danvers.
His funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the VNA Care Network and Hospice, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923.
