Obituary

Cleo Hayes Pearman, 85, passed away Monday, November 17, 2008, at Wesley Manor in Dothan, AL. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Chapel with the Rev. Rick Glenn of Dothan officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Pearman was born August 31, 1923 in Berrien County. On April 18, 1942, she married John Bruce “J.B.” Pearman. After WWII they lived in Tifton until they moved to Columbus in 1955.

Following her husband's death in 1976, Mrs. Pearman moved to Dothan to be near her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Grandview Baptist Church for over 30 years and an active participant in all activities for seniors as well as the Carraway Sunday School Class for 30 years. Her famous teacakes were cherished by everyone who was lucky enough to receive them.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, John Dewey and Libby Lee Hall Hayes; three brothers, Austin Hayes, Dewey Olan (Shorty) Hayes and George Hayes; three sisters-in-law Genie Hayes, Juanita Stone Hayes and Juanita Browning Hayes; a niece, Carolyn Hayes Brogdon; a nephew, Johnny Hayes; and two brothers-in-law, Horace Pearman and Avis Goodman.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Jim Day of Fort Walton Beach, FL; her son, Danny Pearman, Dothan, AL; grandchildren and their spouses, Joe and Lyndsey Day of Portland, OR, Laura and Patrick Lucy of Atlanta and Crystal and Trent Johnson of Dothan, AL; great-grandson, Gavin Johnson; two brothers, John A. Hayes of Tifton and Tommy D. Hayes of Tallahassee, FL; in-laws, Vera Goodman, Frank and Mary Nell Pearman, Martha Jane Pearman and Lamar Pearman; and nineteen nieces and nephews.
