Billy Felton Erskine, Sr., 51, of Omega died Monday, November 17, 2008, at his residence from germ cell cancer that he was diagnosed with in May of 2007. The family will respect his wishes for his body to be donated to science and a memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at his residence, The Barn.
Mr. Erskine was born on September 9, 1957 in Cairo and was the son of Barbara Thompson Erskine of Omega and the late Joseph Henry Erskine. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jo Woodard. He was a steel erector and a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Whigham.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Erskine is survived by three sons, Billy Felton Erskine, Jr. of Thomas County, Bobby Ellison Erskine of Tifton, and Buddy Collis Erskine of Tifton; two daughters, Brittany Carrie Nicole Erskine of Ochlochnee and Brigette Conelia Erskine of Cairo; one brother, Joseph Allen Erskine of Cairo; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Galinda Sue and Tony O. Tucker of Tifton and Curtis Woodard of Omega; and 13 grandchildren.
