James Deward Johnson, age 76, passed away on November 13, 2008. He was born on March 20, 1932 to parents, Joseph J. Johnson and Addie (Graves) Johnson in Murphy, North Carolina. He served his country by being a member of the United States Army.
James Deward Johnson was a retired oil field worker and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Don Johnson, Sr. and his wife Rosie of Rosanky, Texas and James D. Johnson, Jr. of Lytle, Texas; two daughters, Kay Bishop of Austin, Texas and Corapatra Meiners and her husband Wallace of Ledbetter, Texas; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews.
James Deward Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Jean Johnson; one daughter, LaVonne Johnson; one granddaughter; three brothers and eight sisters.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Winchester City Cemetery. Reverend Emil Kiesling will officiate at the service.
