Paxton—Kenner H. (Hart) Meyers, 58, of 42 Maple Street, Paxton, died Sunday, April 20, in Tufts New England Center after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 29 years, Winslow Myers; her parents, George and Josephine Hart of Newcastle, Maine; a daughter, Anna W. Myers of Damariscotta, Maine; two brothers, Wim Hart of Canaan, NH and Frazier Hart of Heartland, Maine; a sister, Maia Hart of Damariscotta, Maine. A son, Chase Myers, died last June.
Mrs. Myers was born in Philadelphia, Pa, and resided in Paxton since 1973. She was a graduate of Maine’s Lincoln Academy, did her undergraduate studies at Connecticut College, and received her M.A.T. degree from Bank Street College of Education.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Paxton, a former trustee of Richards Memorial Library where she also served as president of the Friends of Richards Memorial Library, a former instructor at the Charles River School in Dover and the Shepard Knapp School in West Boylston. Mrs. Myers was a long serving member of the Clark University Education Department, specializing in Early Childhood Education and was the main advisor and clinical supervisor in their Elementary Education Program. The Chairman of the Education Department described her as a “warm, generous colleague, unfailingly supportive of students.”
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 1 Church Street. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenner Hart Myers Memorial Fund, Lincoln Academy, Newcastle, ME 04553. Nordgren Memorial Chapel (NordgrenMemorialChapel.com), 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
