Edward Alves, age 79, of Fall River & previously Somerset. Passed away November 11, 2008. He was the husband of the late Albertina “Tina” (Medeiros) Alves. Born in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Manuel & Anna (Farias) Alves. Mr. Alves was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to retiring, Mr. Alves worked as a Color Mixer for the Plymouth Rubber Co. for over 20 years.
He is survived by a daughter: Sherry Velozo & her husband Kenneth of Somerset. 1 granddaughter: Candace Mavenyengwa. 2 great grandsons: Brayden Velozo Migliori & Camden Velozo Migliori. 5 siblings: Alfred Alves of Naples, Fl; Francis Alves of Dartmouth; Gerald Alves of Naples, FL; Elaine Soares of Westport; Doris Carpentier of Fall River.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Saturday at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Somerset at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Friday 5-8 P.M.
