Helen (Brophy) O’Leary, of Melrose, passed away on Nov. 8, 2008 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Elizabeth P. (Kelly) Brophy. A homemaker, Helen was the loving wife of the late Daniel J. O’Leary, Jr., and the devoted mother of Daniel J. O’Leary III and his wife Cindy of Melrose, Nancy E. and her husband Prof. Gerard LaVarnway of Northfield, VT and Hon. Brian M. O’Leary of Alexandria, VA. She was also the dear grandmother of Erin and Megan O’Leary of Melrose and Kelley and Patrick O’Leary of VA, and is further survived by several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, on Wed., Nov. 26 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
