ALLEN, Evelyn M. 79 of Needham, (Sister Evelyn Marie, Marist Missionary Sisters, Waltham, MA, Retired). Peacefully in her sleep at Briarwood Healthcare, Lincoln St., Needham on November 6, 2008.
Daughter of the late John P. Allen and Annie (Towe) Allen. Survived by 3 sisters, Patricia A. Blum, Helen V. Allen, and Mary L. Herendeen all of Needham and sisters-in-law Barbara Allen of Needham and Lois Allen of Mansfield. Sister of the late John W., Stanley J., Paul and Robert G. Allen. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. Former employee of New England Telephone Co., before joining the Marist Missionary Sisters of Waltham, MA and attending Regis College. Also a retired employee of Regalite Plastics of Newton. She devoted her life to charity locally and abroad while serving in a missionary in Jamaica, American Samoa and the Fiji Islands. Most recently she was a long- time resident at the Senior Apartments on Linden St. in Needham where she was active in their community.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., NEEDHAM, Tuesday at 8:00AM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Needham at 9:00am. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
