Obituary

Faris J. Ackil, 77 years, of Brockton, died unexpectedly November 7, 2008 at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Abdallah and Richidi (Nasser) Ackil. Faris was a 1949 graduate of Brockton High School, a Korean War Veteran and longtime manager for Stop & Shop Supermarket. He was instrumental in raising four nephews who considered him their third parent. He was a great cook who would cook for the boys and their friends, but also taught them honesty and how to care for others. He was an avid gardener and Boston Red Sox Fan who during the 2004 World Championship season had the privilege to throw out the first pitch at one of the games.

He is survived by two brothers Dr. Joseph Ackil of Newton, Dr. Albert Ackil of Canton, a sister Marion Solomon of Rhode Island, his sisters in-law Ann Ackil and Mary Ackil, three Godchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was the brother of the late Josephine George.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday at 9am. The Service of the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 North Main Street, Brockton at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-7pm with the service of incense at 6pm. Donations in his name may be made to St. Theresa Church, PO Box 2567, Brockton, MA 02305-2567.
