Arthur Gene Althen, 57, of Scooterville passed away Saturday, July 23, 2005, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Nathan Godley officiating. A private funeral service and burial was held for Mr. Althen at a later date.
Born September 30, 1947, in Riviera Beach, Florida, Mr. Althen was the son of the late Arthur George Althen and Enid Odella Bushee Althen. He was a 6-year Marine Corps veteran and the recipient of the Purple Heart.
Mr. Althen is survived by his wife, Patricia Kay Tomberlin Althen of Scooterville; one son, Joshua Andrew Althen of Scooterville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny Gayle Althen and Daniel Sumner of Colorado and Holly Denise and Thad Minick of Preston; two brothers and sister-in-law, Gerald D. and Phillis Althen of Charleston, South Carolina and George B. and Judy Althen of Savannah; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Faith M. Hendrix of Orlando, Florida, Ruth A. and J.W. Porter of Blue Ridge, Joy E. and Quentin Cole of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Judy I. Archer of Cleveland, Ohio and Grace E. and Tommy Neal of Savannah; and two grandchildren.
