Charles Warren Johnson, Jr., 73, of Omega passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2005, at Omega Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Morris and the Rev. Cecil Felts officiating. Mr. Johnson was laid to rest at Omega Cemetery.
Wayne Dunn, John Waddell, Ricky Baker, Wayne David, Joel McLeod, Danny Botton, Gene Marchant and Monroe McDaniel served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Jones, Dutch hall, Curtis Mixon, Charles Solomon, Ray Hunt Sr., Lenton Fletcher, Ronnie Hurst, Buddy Busbin, Robert Ponder, Roy Cannady and Jones Ponder.
Born May 14, 1932, in Omega, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Charles Warren Johnson, Sr. and Lucille Marchant Johnson. He was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Michael Johnson. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation; and he was a member of Omega Methodist Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict; and he had lived most of his life in Omega. He loved the outdoors; and he was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and friends.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Ann Taylor Johnson of Omega; two daughters and one son-in-law, Melinda and Marty Moore of Tifton and Melanie Johnson of Vinings; one brother, Joseph F. Johnson of Tifton; one sister, Laverne Johnson McLeod of Tifton; and two grandchildren, Mallory Moore and Jake Moore, both of Tifton.
