Dorothy Allen Matthews, 74, of Tifton passed away Saturday, October 1, 2005, at Tift Health Care. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Billy Sumner officiating. Mrs. Matthews was laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery in Tifton.
Mrs. Matthews' nephews served as pallbearers.
Born May 9, 1931, in Clay County, Alabama, Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Frank Allen and Merle Walker Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dempsey Matthews. She was a homemaker; and she was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Mrs. Matthews is survived by two brother, Larry Allen of vanceville and Ben Allen of Tallahassee, Florida; and one sister, Laverne Allen Hand of Tifton.
