TAUNTON – Lillian (Gonsalves) Furtado, wife of the late Gilbert E. Furtado, died on Nov. 3, 2008 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Marciel) Gonsalves.
Educated in Taunton schools, and a graduate of Taunton High School, she was later employed as a secretary for Reed & Barton Silversmiths, before co-owning/operating the Capeway Package Store with her late husband.
Mrs. Furtado was subsequently employed as a secretary for Coyle & Cassidy High School, retiring in 1998.
She was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, a member of the parish’s Holy Ghost Society, and a Reed & Barton Quarter Century Club member.
She was the aunt of Debra Gwozdz of Taunton and George E. Gonsalves, Jr. of Sagamore Beach.
She was also the mother of the late Richard J. Furtado and the sister of the late George E. Gonsalves.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Friday, Nov. 7, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Thursday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m.
