Esther M. (Stocks) Estell of Andover and beloved wife of the late Lyle F. Estell, died at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Methuen on Wednesday, Ocotober 29, 2008. She was 93 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on September 26, 1915, she was the beloved daughter of the late Asa and Clara (Hill) Stocks.
Esther was a graduate of Punchard High School, class of 1933 and was a lifetime member of the Andover Baptist Church. She was an active member of the church and held many positions over the years and also belonged to the Family Circle. She started the Secret Pal Program at the church and established the Elevator Fund. The fund was her passion and dream. It enabled the elderly of the church to attend services, where before they may not have been able to attend, due to the stairs.
She will be very sorely missed by two sons and two daughters-in-law; Malcolm F. and his wife, Lois Estell of Meredith, New Hampshire and Ronald K. and his wife Denise Estell of Pelham, New Hampshire, one daughter; Bette J. Lynch of Andover, six grandchildren; Lynne Towle, Malcolm Estell, Jr., Shawn Lynch, Ryan Lynch, Lyle Estell and Bethany Demers, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; Ruth Stocks and Patricia Stocks and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service was celebrated in the Andover Baptist Church, 7 Central Street, Andover, Monday, November 3, 2008, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Sunday, November 2, 2008, from 2 to 6 PM. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
