Obituary

WEBSTER - Adelbert S. Kemp, 94, of 338 Thompson Road, died Thursday, October 30, in Webster Manor. His wife of 55 years, Lillian C. (Perry) Kemp, died in 1994.

He leaves several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Carmen M. Strout in 1991 and by his twin brother Bradford J. “Red” Kemp in 2004.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Frank A. and Amelia (Klebart) Kemp, and lived in Webster most of his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1932 and attended Worcester Junior College.

Mr. Kemp worked for Massachusettes Electric Company for 36 years and then for Boston Gas Company for 7 years before retiring in 1977.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Federated, for over 80 years. He belonged to the Mass. Society of Mayflower Descendants. He was a 73 year member of the George Draper Lodge #82 of the Knights of Pythias in Hopedale.

He was known as “Bert,” “Del” and “Pinky.”

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 11:00 AM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 4, and also 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday morning in the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to the United Church of Christ, Federated, Discretionary Fund, 4 Church Street, Webster, Ma 01570.
