Joao Vincente Arruda, age 73 of Fall River. Husband of 46 years of Leontina (Sousa) Arruda and son of the late Francisco and Maria da Conceicao (Albernaz) Arruda. Passed away in Providence, October 30, 2008. Born in Remedios, Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a resident of Fall River for 40 years. He was a retired machine operator at Swan Finishing Co.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Susan Arruda-Roberts of Victor, NY and Donalda “Dee” Arruda of Fall River, MA; 3 grandchildren: Chad, Cayla, & Taylor Francis of Victory, NY; 5 siblings: Joaquim Arruda & Regina Arruda both of Etibroke, Canada, Americo Arruda of Fergusen, Canada, Leonilde Coreia and Laurina Arruda both of Sao Miguel, Azores and several nieces & nephews; He was the brother of the late Francisco, Jose, Maria and Serafina Arruda, Cremilde Sabo, Belmira do Rego.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Monday at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688
