Obituary

Dorothy B. (MacInnis) Nichols, died peacefully on April 10, 2003 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She is the loving wife of Paul A. Nichols with whom she just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past March 26th.She was born in Medford on April 4, 1925, a daughter, of the late James H. and Viola V. (Bower) MacInnis. She was a lifelong resident of Medford, graduating Medford High School with the class of 1943. Dorothy was a communicant of the First Baptist Church of Medford for 50 years.Dorothy was a crossing guard in Medford for many years and directed traffic at the Medford schools for twenty-eight years.Dorothy was highly athletic, participating in such school sports as basketball, softball, and field hockey (where her team won the State Championships). Her favorite sports were golfing and bowling. She also coached her son’s little league team. Besides her passion for team sports, Dorothy enjoyed gardening. Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband Paul A. Nichols of Medford. She is the loving mother of David B. and his wife Debra J. Nichols of Andover. Cherished grandmother of Katherine and Hannah Nichols. Dear sister of the late “Honey” Lowthers. Her funeral service will be celebrated in the First Baptist Church, 37 Oakland Street, Medford, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, MA 02155.
