Obituary

Edward L. Fischer of St. Augustine, FL died on Monday, October 27th from complications of pneumonia at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham while visiting his grandchildren. He was 77 years old. Born in Jamesport, Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late Leonard and Pauline (Dombrowiecka) Fischer. Edward was a graduate of Riverhead High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from SUNY- Farmingdale and spent his entire working career with the General Electric Co. as a service engineer, first in Schenectady, NY, later in Chicago, IL and finally in Fitchburg, MA. He was a member of GE’s Quarter Century Club and the Elfun Society. Upon retiring in 1991, Ed and his wife Margaret moved to St. Augustine, FL. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret E. (Dingbaum), his children, Edward L. Fischer, Jr. of Seattle, WA, Carrie Van Duym of Boulder, CO and Patricia Cloonan of Needham, as
well as two sisters and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Anne Margaret, his parents, one sister and one brother. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Saint Joseph Church on Thursday, October 30th. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th floor, Boston MA 02210. Arrangements were made by the Eaton Funeral Home in Needham.
