Bernard Paul John Kessel, age 78, of Houston passed away on October 24, 2008. He was born on January 5, 1930 to parents, August Paul Kessel and Clara (Gersch) Kessel in Serbin, Texas. Bernard Kessel married Edna Matthijetz on August 20, 1955 in Winchester, Texas.
Bernard Paul John Kessel served his country by being a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired accountant working many years for Wilson Industries.
Survivors include his wife, Edna (Matthijetz) Kessel of Houston; one sister, Mildred Schultz of Cedar Park, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one brother-in-law.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening.
The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange, Texas. Pastor Lawrence White will officiate at the service. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Winchester, Texas.
