Joan M. (Coady) Johnston, a 5 year resident of Hampton, NH, and a former 30 year resident of Wakefield and 7 year resident of Peabody, died on Monday, October 20, 2008, at her home in Hampton, NH, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 75 years old.
Joan was born in Everett on May 7, 1933. She grew up in Everett and attended St. Joseph's Parochial School in Malden and graduated from Girls Catholic High School in Malden. Joan worked for several years at Klines in Wakefield always taking pride at her work in window decorating. She also loved interior design and decorating while taking care of her husband and three daughters.
Joan is the beloved wife of 58 years to Thomas S. Johnston. She is the devoted mother of Darlene Ford and her husband James of Saugus, Cindy Perry and her husband Robert of Rowley and the late Jody Johnston. She is the loving Grammy to James and Paul Ford, Kristen and Bryan Perry. She is the sister of William Coady of Chelsea, Judy Swindell of Savannah, GA, June Powers of Malden and the late Jean Cvinar.
Joan's Funeral will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2008, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefiled/Melrose, line followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
