Obituary

Terence J. O’Toole MD, 70, longtime resident of Brockton, died Saturday, October 18, at the Edith Norse-Rodgers Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary M. (McMahon) O’Toole. Born and raised in New Bedford, he was a graduate of New Bedford Schools. Dr. O’Toole attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and was in the graduating class of 1959. He was also a graduate of the University of Ottawa Medical School, Class of 1963. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. Dr. O’Toole did his residency at the University of California in San Francisco and completed his internship at King’s County Hospital in Brooklyn. A resident of Brockton since 1972, Dr. O’Toole was an obstetrician and gynecologist in the Brockton area for over 25 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the American College of OB/GYN, the Massachusetts Medical Association and the American Association of Pro Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He loved the practice of medicine, reading, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his children; Peggy Moynihan and her husband Timothy of Stoneham, James M. O’Toole and his wife Jaqueline of NH and Kevin A. O’Toole and his wife Jennifer of WA. He was the brother of Mildred Elizabeth Dahill of CA, Austin M. O’Toole of TX and the late Judy O’Toole, Alma O’Toole, John B. O’Toole III and Michael D. O’Toole. He is also survived by his 4 grandsons; Sean P. and Terence J. Moynihan, and Seamus A. and Wilian J. O’Toole.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 23 at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 5-8 PM.
