Obituary

Salem: Gloria D. Jean, age 63 of Salem, died Friday, October 17, 2008, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a long illness.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Hilda I. (Travers) Jean. Gloria was a graduate of Salem High School and began working for New England Telephone Co. first in Salem and later in Lynn. At the time of her retirement, she was working in the Yellow Pages ad proofing department. Following an early retirement, Gloria was able devote some of her time to the care of her mother and to fund-raising for Ste. Anne Parish. She was an avid sports fan and also loved theater and travel. Gloria was a quiet and religious woman, who attended daily mass at Ste. Anne until her health began to fail.

She is survived by a brother, Arthur H. Jean, Jr. of Lynn and several devoted cousins including Cheryl & Brian Winter of Salem, as well as many supportive friends from Ste. Anne Parish and her neighborhood. Gloria also leaves many of faithful friends including, Carmy Marturano, Louise Pellegrino, Kristi Dalton, Tina Reddy and Suzanne Durkin.

Her funeral will be on Wednesday at 10:30 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 11 am. Visiting hours will precede her funeral from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
