Obituary

NEWMAN, William G.- Of Everett, October 18th. Beloved brother of the late Eleanor F. Newman, Josephine M. Henderson, Frances E. Kitson, George W. Newman and Barbara A. Newman. Lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews including Barbara Henderson of Everett, Kathleen Henderson of Manchester, NH, William Henderson of Palm Bay, FL and Patricia Odom of Texas. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Tuesday morning, October 21st at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in The Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, EVERETT at 9 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Carroll Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.
Born in and a lifelong Everett resident, Bill, at 89 years of age, passed away at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere where he had been receiving supportive care for the last 2 years.
An active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Bill along with his late brother George were instrumental in many of the Parish's fundraising endeavors.
A graduate of the Everett Vocational High School he was a proud member of the United States Army during World War II, activly a member of both the 96th Signal Battalion Company C and the 98th Signal Battalion Company B serving in China, Burma and India.
Upon returning to Everett after serving his country courageously, he was employed for over 42 years at the GE Plant in Everett as a machinist.
For many years he ran the Golden Eagles Drill Team of Everett, was a member of the Allied Council of Everett and was Past Commander and member of the Everett VFW, DAV and the South Boston American Legion.
