Obituary

E. Paul Vaillancourt, age 87, son of the late Ignace Joseph Vaillancourt and Marie (Levesque) Vaillancourt passed away at home on Oct. 17, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Olivine (Bussiere) Vaillancourt for 66 years.

Born in Fall River on Jan. 3, 1921, Paul was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving honorably in the Pacific Theatre in the 20th Air Force Guam Group, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant.

He was a Master Plumber in MA, and owned and operated E. Paul Vaillancourt Plumbing & Heating in Westport for 20 years. He was a member of UA Plumbers & Pipefitters Locals 51 and 77, where he served on the executive board. He was the first Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Westport, serving for over 30 years.

Paul was a communicant and active member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport, since its inception. He was a trustee in the former St. Isadore Council Knights of Columbus of Dartmouth and Westport, active in the James Morris American Legion Post 145, Boy Scout Troop 100, the Royal Travelers Club and Holiday Lanes Bowling League.

Besides his wife, he is survived and sadly missed by his children Kenneth D. Vaillancourt and his wife Kathleen of Tiverton, Rochelle E. Vaillancourt of Westport and Thomas R. Vaillancourt and his wife Jody of Merrimack, NH, a brother Richard Vaillancourt of Tiverton, sisters Jeanne Bouley and Annette Martin of Fall River and Helen Hart of Somerset, granddaughters Laura, Mary, April and Colleen Vaillancourt and Jacqueline Chase, grandson Schuyler Vaillancourt, many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. He was beloved by all.

He was predeceased by his son, Paul G. Vaillancourt, his brothers Robert Vaillancourt and Henry Vaillancourt, Sr., and sisters Augustine Caya, Cecile Bailey, Theresa Gagne, Lorraine Egger and Blanche Allie.

Calling hours are Sunday from 4 – 7 P.M.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, October 20, 2008 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.

Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
