Manchester-Ovila W. Lapointe, 93 died October 16, 2008 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home following a long illness.
He was born in St. Magloire de Bellechasse, PQ Canada the son of Willie and Marie (Lejeune) Lapointe and had been a resident of this city for many years.
Prior to his retirement he had worked as a lumberjack in Quebec and Maine then as a mechanic for Foster Beef.. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and held membership in the Knights of Columbus Notre Dame Council. He was also a volunteer with Caregivers.
Members of his family include his wife of 68 years Emilienne (Larochelle) Lapointe of Manchester, one daughter Francine Chalifour and her husband Robert of Manchester, 3 sons Jean-Denis Lapointe of Ottawa, Andre Lapointe and his wife Lucille of Manchester, Raymond Lapointe and his wife Nancy of Temecula, CA..
Other family members include 10 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, 5 brothers Onil Lapointe of Laconia, Paul Lapointe and Robert Lapointe both of Wellard, Ont. , Marius Lapointe of Toronto, Jean Marc Lapointe of Montreal, 3 sisters Ghislaine Lessard, Rejeanne Leblanc, Marielle Gagnon all of Quebec City, several nieces and nephews and cousins.
SERVICES:Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 at the J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Anne-St. Augustin Church. Entombment will be in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
