Obituary

WORCESTER-Florence W. Karanja, 48, of Worcester died Monday, October 13th in her home. She leaves her husband of 23 years, Paul K. Gitaka; her son, Alvin G. Kimani of Worcester; her daughter, Yvonne W. Kimani of Worcester; her parents, Isaac G. and Pricilla W. (Thuo) Karanja of Kenya; three brothers, Ken Karanja of England and Peter and Njihia Karanja both of Nairobi, Kenya; four sisters, Lois Karanja Fry of Montreal, Canada and Jenny Smith, Kizzy Fletcher and Nancy Karanja, all of England; and a grandson, Ezekiel Kimani of Worcester.

She was born in Nakuru, Kenya and came to the United States in 2000. Ms. Karanja worked as a CNA and home health aide. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church.

The funeral is Tuesday, October 21st from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with service at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 695 Southbridge Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, October 20th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

A fundraiser will be held on Sunday, October 19th at 5 Chestnut Street, Worcester from 3:00 until 8:00 PM.
