Frank Amato, 89 of Medford, died Monday after a brief illness in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford.
Born in Italy, he lived in Medford since 1947 and formerly of Castellammare Del Golfo, Sicily. Frank was the son of the late Francesca (Borruso) and Francesco Amato. He retired in 1977 as a Master Barber and proprietor of Frank’s Barber Shop in Watertown, which he had owned for 15 years. Beloved husband of the late Rose (Amato). Devoted father of Maria Svirsky and her husband Tom of Newburyport. Loving grandfather of Nicole and Thomas Svirsky. Brother of Cosima Portuese of Cape Town and the late Jose Amato. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent in Frank’s name to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Development Office, 100 Hospital Rd., Center 2, Malden, MA 02148.
