Jesup- Mr. Hershel D. Jones passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008. He was born in Jesup on May 23, 1951. Mr. Jones was employed with Yellow Freight Lines and an active member of the Teamsters Local 512.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Lorene Jones and three brothers Leonard, Eugene, and Kenneth Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Jones and two sons Brian and Tina Jones and Wayne and Ashley Jones, two brothers, Donald and Hazel Jones and Charles Jones, two sisters, Christine Lewis and Velva James, five grandchildren, Breanna, Tyler, Caleb, Abagail, and Kylie, mother-in-law, Johnnie King and sister-in-law Brenda and Clif Alapa and Leaverne Jones and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel with Reverend James Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Pierce, Ken Jones, Steve Jones, Danny Jones, Stevie Morris and Stacy Thornton.
