Obituary

Mark A. O’Brien, 66, of Pingree Hill Road, Derry, NH died Sunday April 13, 2003 at the Parkland Medical Center. He was born in Boston, MA on April 25, 1936, a son of the late Denis A. and Alice M. (Levi) O’Brien. He was a resident of Derry for the past 18 years. He graduated from Bentley College School of Accounting and Finance in 1967. He served as a corporal in the Unites States Marine Corp for eight years. He was employed by the Department of Revenue in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement in March 2002. He had been an active member of the American Legion Lester Chase Post #9, Derry. He was also a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Derry. He was a devoted husband and father, an avid reader with a great love of history and had numerous hobbies, including playing golf.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Catharine A. (Harmon) O’Brien, Derry, two daughters, Cynthia O’Brien, Glastonbury, CT, Susan Dumas, Derry, three grandchildren, one brother, Hugh O’Brien of Arizona, two sisters, Alice J. Lippson of Maryland, Denise Cariani of Massachusetts, many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 16, 2003 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry. Friends may call at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry on Tuesday from 7 – 9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the NH Association for the Blind, 25 Walker Street, Concord, NH 03301.
