Retired Deputy Fire Chief Robert James Hutton, Jr. 83 a life long resident of Lawrence, MA, died Monday, October 12, 2008 at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
He was born June 28, 1925 in Lawrence, MA to Robert J. Sr. and Bridget F. (Bacigalupo) Hutton. He was educated in the Wetherbee Grammar School in Lawrence, MA. and was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1942. He served in the United States Marines as a Corporal having served overseas during some of the Pacific Campaigns during WWII. After the war Mr. Hutton went to work for A&P Grocery Store In South Lawrence, MA. Then he went to work for the Lawrence Fire Department, during this time he was extensively educated in Arson Investigation at an Arson School in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Hutton retired after 35 years of faithful service to the City of Lawrence, MA as Deputy Chief having retired on June 26th, 1990
Mr. Hutton was the Chairman of Voter Board of Registration for the City of Lawrence, MA. and also a Board Member of the Lawrence Firefighters Credit Union. According to his loving family he loved to cook and the Boston Redsox.
He leaves his loving wife of 50 years Mary G. (Kenney) Hutton. His two daughters: Anne F. Hutton-Palmer and her husband Mark of Taunton, MA, and Mary M. Hutton and her husband Paul Barczak of Myrtle Beach, SC. As well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 11:00 in St. Patrick Church in South Lawrence, MA. a burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
