Sally E. Noyes, 71, of Chester, NH, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at her home. She was born in Boston, MA on March 27, 1937, a daughter of the late C. Chester and Elsa S. (Anderson) Grant, and was a resident of Chester for most of her life. Sally graduated from Reading High School in 1956. In 1957, Sally and her parents moved to Chester where she met and married Richard Noyes in 1959 and together they raised their three children. After raising her children, Sally returned to the working world and was employed by Cutting’s Hallmark in Derry, NH for 20 years as store manager before retiring in 2005. Sally was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she adored. Sally and Richard enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Alaska, Maine and England. She especially enjoyed traveling to Maine yearly where she has family roots. Sally was often the winner while playing Jeopardy and Scrabble with her children and grandchildren, and never missed doing a daily crossword puzzle. Sally was a hockey mom, and an avid Boston Bruins fan for 60 years.
Sally is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard Noyes of Chester; two daughters, Suzanne Driscoll and her husband Thomas of Portsmouth, NH, and Dianne Kunelius and her husband Edward of Barrington, NH; a son, Mark Noyes of Sherman, ME; and a sister, Nancy Dunbar of Amherst, NH. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Friday, October 17th from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 18th at 11:00am in the Chester Congregational-Baptist Church, 4 Chester St., Chester.
