Geraldine “Gerri” Elder, 61, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, October 11, 2008, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Ronnie Youngblood and Rev. Danny Lovett officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9, Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Elder was born February 28, 1947 in Fitzgerald to the late Rural Lee and Dolores Flanders Giddens. She lived in the community all of her life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1965 and she attended South Georgia College. Mrs. Elder retired after 37 years as a social worker at Osceola Nursing Home. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Elder; son, John A. Elder; grandson, Shannon Ray Elder all of Fitzgerald; several nieces & nephews including, Sandi Thompson of Fitzgerald and Kemmie Murray of Henderson, Nevada and a brother, John W. Giddens of Las Vegas, Nevada; special friends, Doris Hawkins and Carol McCard.
