Obituary

Marie Anna Phaneuf 97, formerly of St. Louis Ave. died Wednesday in St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Leo Phaneuf. Mrs. Phaneuf was born in St. Aime, PQ, Canada, a daughter of the late Doria and Hedwidge (Valois) Brouillard. She came to the United States at the age of eleven, and lived most of her life in Woonsocket. Mrs. Phaneuf was a textile worker for many years at several area mills, she also worked several years as an aide at Citizen’s Memorial School. She had a great fondness for cooking and gardening.

Mrs. Phaneuf is survived by a daughter Georgette Simard of Woonsocket; a brother Paul Brouillard and a sister Theresa Morin, both of Woonsocket, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Normand G. Phaneuf, and sister of the late Oscar, Delphis, Alcide, Laurier, Florida, and Laurette Brouillard, Rose Mongeon, and Antoinette Cournoyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:00 am in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their condolences prior to the Mass at 9:30 am at All Saints Church. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directions of the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home.
