Shirley McGill Franks, 61, of Tifton died Saturday, October 4, 2008, of cancer at her daughter's residence. Per Ms. Franks' wishes, no formal services will be held.
Ms. Franks was born on January 7, 1947 in Tift County and was the daughter of John D. McGill and Annie Lee Hayes McGill, both deceased. She was a hairdresser and owned and operated Shirley's Salon in Tifton.
Ms. Franks is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Missy McCranie of Tifton and Lisa and Ray Sammons; one brother, John W. McGill of Tifton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Brenda and Junior Johnson of Stockton, Louise and Joe Tidd of Ellaville and Mildred Wilson of Tifton; five grandchildren, Summer Deanda, Paris Harper, Porshia Harpe, Heather McCranie and Dillon Sammons; and several nieces and nephews.
