Petit, Frances R., of Smith Avenue, Greenville, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, in the Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Henry P. Petit.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Anna (Fagan) Garvey. She lived most her life in Smithfield. She was a Teacher in the Johnston School System before retiring in 1985.
She was a past financial secretary for the Smithfield Emblem Club #434,Charter member of the Women’s VFW #2929, a member St. Philip Women’s Guild, St. Philip Senior Citizen’s, St. Philip Choir, RI Retired Teacher’s Assn. and the Blackstone Valley Retired Teacher’s Assn.
She is survived by Jeanne F. Ouelette and her husband Robert of Lakeland, FL David P. Petit and his wife Irene of Niceville, FL, Brian M. Petit and his wife Debra of East Greenwich, Dr. Kevin P. Petit and his wife Kathleen of Milton, MA, Andrea M. Petit of Greenville. She was the grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 3. She was the mother of the late Neil H. Petit.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 10am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Academy, 909 Lonsdale Avenue, Central Falls, RI 02863.
