ANNISQUAM: Peter Joseph Judd, 53, passed away from pulmonary fibrosis on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Carol (Schaefer) Judd.
Born in Hamilton, Bermuda on September 7, 1955, he was the son of Joan Rose (Bolger) Judd of Gloucester and the late Wallace M. Judd. Peter attended St. Ann School and was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1974. A United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War era, he served from 1975 to 1979, when he was honorably discharged. His service included tours in Cuba, Italy, and Spain among other international posts.
Peter was a proud member of Plumbers Union Local #12 and an employee of DJ Plumbing in Danvers. He loved his work as a Union plumber, commuting to the Boston area with his friend Bruce VanStigt. Peter was a member of The Manchester Lodge A.F. & A.M., which he joined in 1989 and served as Worshipful Master in 1995. He was a member of the F.W. Webb Golf League at Cape Ann Golf Course, playing with the League since 1986. An avid lover of the ocean, he enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by five sisters, Suzanne T. Arnold and her husband, Jason of Hamilton, Wilhelmina Sheedy Moores and her husband, Ian of Rockport, Jennifer E. Anyon and her husband, William of Windham, NH, Nancy A. Judd of Gloucester, and Mary Beth Wayne and her husband, Thomas of Greensboro, NC, his three brothers, Michael M. Judd and his wife, Elaine of Woburn, Daniel F. Judd of Gloucester and John Paul Judd and his wife, Carole of Lynnfield, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom Schaefer of Rockport, Chris and Ellen Velline of CA and Joan Schaefer of Rockport, eighteen nieces and nephews, Justin, Patrick, and Heather Arnold of Hamilton, Holly and Janice Judd of Woburn, Emily and Joseph Anyon of Windham, NH, Jill and Christopher Trahon of Gloucester, Olivia Helen Sheedy of Rockport, Sarah, Kristen, and Norah Wayne of Greensboro, NC, Jaclyn, Kathryn, and Tyler Judd of Lynnfield and Nick and Rob Schaefer of Rockport, and many dear friends.
His memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 24 Broadway Ave., Rockport on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lahey Clinic Pulmonary Dept., 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805; St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 24 Broadway Ave., Rockport, MA 01966, or Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA. A committal service will be celebrated in June 2009 at Stage Fort Park on a date to be announced.
