New Bedford -Ruby A. (Correia) Andrade, age 85, died, Friday October 3, 2008 at The Oaks peacefully in the presence of her loving family.She was the wife of the late Gilbert Andrade and she was also the widow of Manuel Azevedo. Mrs. Andrade was the mother of Donna Rogers and her companion Paul Sampson of New Bedford, Karen Sullivan and her husband Jon of Fairhaven and Manuel "Sonny” Azevedo of Dartmouth. She was the sister of Lorraine Arruda of Burbank, CA. and the late Manuel "Francis" Correia, Leonard Correia, Mary Sylvia and Florence Brey Mrs. Andrade was the grandmother of, Kristy Martin, Keith, Amy, and Karen Rogers, Wendy Azevedo and Kelly De Mello she was the great-grand mother of Tayla Ponte, Nolan Michaud, Alec and Harris DeMello. She is also survived by a Special Nephew George "Papa" Brightman, Godchild Ruby Brightman and several Nieces and Nephews.
Mrs. Andrade was a daughter of Regina (LeClaire) and Manuel Correia. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Andrade was employed as Sales Clerk at the Cove Mill Discount and she later worked at the Department Store S.S. Kresge. Mrs. Andrade love being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Guild in Dartmouth, and Mt. Carmel Seniors, she enjoyed her day trips with the Seniors.
Mrs. Andrade’s funeral will be Tuesday, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, on County St. at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5-8 P.M
