METHUEN – Alma R. (Chateauneuf) Thomson ,98, died Wednesday October 1, 2008 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital.
Born and educated in Methuen where she was a lifelong resident, Alma was the daughter of the late Damase and Amanda (Caron) Chateauneuf. She was a graduate of the Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen and also Fazio School of Cosmetology. For many years she worked in the Wood and Arlington Mills, before retiring with the Internal Revenue Service. Alma was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxilary Post # 8349. She loved spending time at her cottage at Lake Attitash, enjoying fun-filled times with her family and friends, especially the children! Besides hairdressing, she was also a meticulous cake decorator, creating numerous custom-made wedding cakes.
The widow of Walter Thomson, she is survived by her daughter Barbara E. Kelliher of Pawtucket, RI, and a grandson Walter M. Kelliher also of Pawtucket RI.She also leaves her sister with whom she lived, Marion R. Graham of Methuen,nephews and nieces, Robert Chateauneuf, Edwin O. Graham, Thomas P. Graham, Carol A. Parmentier and Donna M. Hughes as well as many great – nieces and great-nephews.Alma was predeceased by her 3 brothers Francis F., Albert L. and Gilbert C. Chateauneuf.

Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30a.m. at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
