Lura J. Tomaino, 75

Lura J. (Byrne) Tomaino, 75, of Norton formerly of Wrentham and Norwood died unexpectedly on Wednesday October 1, 2008 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Tomaino.
Born in Hartford, Conn. on December 12, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Chester P. and Thelma G. (Hendricks) Byrne.
She grew up in Norwood and was educated in Norwood Public Schools. She went on to graduate from the Newton Wellesley Hospital Nursing School.
A retired Registered Nurse Lura began her nursing career as a Surgical Nurse at Norwood Hospital. She later worked as an Industrial Nurse at several companies including Liberty Mutual and the Russell Craft Card Co. and in later years as a private nurse.
An active member of the Eastern Star she was also a member of the National Audubon Society. A lover of animals Lura was especially fond of dogs and cats and sheep and while living in Wrentham she had raised sheep and geese at her home. She had made her home in Norton for the past 2 ½ years she was former longtime resident of Wrentham.
She is survived by her brother Richard K. Byrne and his wife Gail of Naples, Florida. Also surviving are 1 niece, 2 nephews and 9 grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday October 4th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in the West Wrentham Cemetery, Wrentham.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 3rd from 5-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers Lura’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Nine Lives of Norton P.O. Box 548 Norton, MA 02766.
