
Carl D. Pierce, 92, of Winterwood Dr., Londonderry, died Saturday, December 29, 2001, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry after a brief illness. He was born in St. Louis, MO on December 16, 1909, a son of the late George A. and Nora B. (Dale) Pierce. He was a resident of Londonderry for the past 18 years, formerly living in Bedford, Mass. He was a graduate of Berea Ohio High School, Class of 1928, where he was the Valedictorian. He was also a graduate of Harvard, Class of 1932 and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Pierce retired from the Uniroyal Footwear Division after many years. He was a quiet, generous man who lived a long healthy life taking care of his family. “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” MT 5:9
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen M. (Robinson) Pierce of Londonderry, two sons, W. Brien Pierce of Lewes, Delaware, Richard C. Pierce of Londonderry, two daughters, Barbara M. Soby of Sunnyvale, Cal., Diana W. Hewson of Chester, nine grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy Blakeman Brosseau of Houston, Texas, one brother, Louis Pierce of Concord, several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the Londonderry Presbyterian Church, corner of Mammoth Rd. and Pillsbury Rd. in Londonderry on Monday, December 31st at 1:00. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry is handling arrangements.
