Obituary

TAUNTON – Mary J. (Costa) Almeida, wife of the late Antone Almeida, died on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Golden Living Wedgemere Nursing Center.
She was 91.
Born in Dighton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Gasper) Costa.
Educated in Dighton schools, she later worked as an attendant for the Paul A. Dever School for over 27 years, retiring at the age of 65.
A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, and a member of the Westside Seniors, she enjoyed playing Bingo and visiting Foxwoods Casinos.
With never an unkind word spoken, she was loved by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed.
Also greatly missed, will be her cookies, cakes and pies, which she baked for her favorite events - family parties.
She also enjoyed crocheting and fashioned afghans for all her grandchildren.
She leaves 2 sons, Dennis Almeida of Flagler Beach, FL, Antone Almeida and his wife Sherri-Mae of Taunton; 4 daughters, Lorraine Murphy, Irene Devlin and her husband Raymond, Mary “Marie” Henricks and her husband Alfred, all of Taunton, and Shirley Webster and her husband Paul of The Villages, FL; 2 sisters, Evelyn Rose of Taunton and Emma Alfonse of Fairhaven; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late George, Raymond, John, and Steven Costa and the late Margaret Hull.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m.
